Trying to launch your own site on the Internet for the first time can seem like an intimidating and confusing process. But we’ll break the process down into easy bite size steps so you can follow along.
Here are the first two basic steps you will need in order to setup your website.
The very first step in setting up a website is to choose a domain name for your URL. You will want to keep it short and punchy. This could be the name of your business or company or it could be something related to what the service you’re offering.
For this task after years of trying all the different domain register companies I settled on Namecheap to be the one that I host all my domains with. They have been reliable, easy to use and have been around for quite awhile which is good thing when you’ll want to keep your domain going for years to come. Most of all as their name says they are also one of the cheapest most reliable companies I have used for domain registration.
Once you have your domain name registered you will need to find a reliable web hosting company for your website. After trying many web hosting companies over the years I’ve settled on Hostgator as my web host of choice. They are inexpensive, reliable and have been around for quite a while and anytime I’ve had an issue with any of my sites I have been able to contact their support staff and they have always fixed my issues in a timely fashion. I recommend their Baby Hosting Package to begin with as it’s super cheap and you will be able to add as many domain names as you like to your hosting account for future websites that you may want to build and host.
